Gary Oldman in Cannes last yearGary Oldman has admitted that he had to apologise to Demi Moore while they were working together on the film The Scarlet Letter.The pair were co-stars in the 1995 movie adaptation of the classic novel by Nathaniel Hawthorne, and while Gary has now been sober for around 28 years, he said that was still drinking and in “a very dark place” at the time of that shoot.During a new interview with the Radio Times, the Oscar winner recalled that he was indulging in “intermittent bouts of boozing during filming” of The Scarlet Letter, resulting in his behaviour becoming “destructive”.He said that after one afternoon of drinking over lunch, he “got back on the set to do quite a big scene”, and while he “got through it”, viewers “wouldn’t really know but I was quite tipsy”.&
