Kemi Badenoch.Kemi Badenoch has been accused of making a “Liz Truss-style promise” after she unveiled plans for a massive unfunded tax cut.The Tory leader said she would axe the windfall tax on the profits of oil and gas companies, even though it is forecast to raise £10.8 billion over the next five years.The windfall tax was brought in by the Tories themselves in 2022 after oil prices spiked in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.But in a speech to the Scottish Conservatives’ conference in Edinburgh on Friday, Badenoch said: “There is no longer a windfall to tax.
