Though older age is the greatest risk factor for dementia, the Alzheimer’s Society points out that more than 70,800 people in the UK live with something called young-onset dementia (where it’s diagnosed before the age of 65).The NHS stressed that most young adults struggling with memory “do not have dementia but are likely experiencing poor concentration and difficulties with attention, often caused by depression and anxiety”.
