Black Sabbath frontman and godfather of metal Ozzy Osbourne has died ‘surrounded by love’ at the age of 76, according to a statement from his family.The singer-songwriter was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2019 and played his last show earlier this month alongside his Black Sabbath bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Butler. It was the first time the four had played together in 20 years.As he performed – sitting in a throne – just a couple of weeks ago at Birmingham’s Villa Park, Ozzy told fans: “You’ve no idea how I feel - thank you from the bottom of my heart.”The Birmingham-born star’s family shared in a statement this evening (July 22 2025): “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.“He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.“Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.”
