Abu Dhabi has launched the world’s largest gigascale renewable energy project, combining 5.2 GW of solar panels with a 19 GWh battery system to deliver 1 GW of continuous, round-the-clock power. The AED 22 billion facility, operational by 2027, overcomes renewable intermittency through AI-driven dispatch, grid-forming capabilities, and virtual power plant technology, setting a global benchmark for sustainable, reliable, and economically competitive clean energy.
